Drs Shah & Pretorius are both very passionate about women's health and they are situated at
Netcare Blaauwberg Hospital in Cape Town, South Africa.
Drs Shah & Pretorius are both specialist Obstetricians and Gynaecologists with special interest in pregnancy, female fertility and is dedicated to supporting women achieve optimal health.
Regarding women’s care during pregnancy, Drs Shah and Pretorius believe that the journey of pregnancy from preconception, delivery and beyond is a very important period and therefore requires the full protection and care that modern obstetrics can provide. Each pregnancy is unique, so it is important that treatment is personalised and that every aspect of your health is considered. Throughout pregnancy it is necessary to ensure that the health of the woman is optimised to provide an ideal environment for the development and growth of her baby. This will allow for the safe delivery of a healthy baby.

Their practice offers all services related to women’s health including the early detection and treatment of disorders of the reproductive system, preventative care, detection and treatment of sexually transmitted diseases, contraception and counselling. Consultations and management are done among others for general examinations including breast examinations, adolescent gynaecology and menstrual bleeding disorders.

Dr Sumaya Shah
Sumaya obtained her MBChB from the Walter Sisulu University in Umtata in 2004. She completed her internship in Pretoria before returning to KZN. There she worked in the Department of Surgery at Port Shepstone Hospital for 3 years. Thereafter she joined a trauma unit at the Netcare
Margate private hospital.
She specialized at Tygerberg hospital at the University of Stellenbosch and became a member of the College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2018.
She is passionate about women’s health in general and has a special interest in infertility and laparoscopic surgery.
She loves cooking, spending time with family and friends and exploring the world.
She speaks English and Xhosa.
Dr Nelis Pretorius

Nelis obtained his MBChB from the University of Pretoria in 2009. He completed his
internship in Pietermaritzburg and worked in Kimberley in Obstetrics & Gynaecology.
He did his post-graduate training at Tygerberg hospital at Stellenbosch University and
became a member of the College of Obstetrics & Gynaecology in 2019.
He is passionate about Obstetrics, including high risk pregnancies and has a special interest
in endoscopy.
He loves running, reading and teaching and is a keen traveler.
He speaks English and Afrikaans.
